This is shared notes for presentation of Donna Stegner's Proof of Concept website revamp done during the meeting on 03-28-2018

  • Source code instructions for the website Proof of Concept (POC) can be found on our Git Server at Git Repository.
    • There is an email from Jim with the website code as a zip file
    • We will be putting this code on Github and do any changes there!
  • Old web site is basically a Powerpoint presentation with links between the pages
    • It does not scale well to smaller screens
  • New website (created by Donna) written in Bootstrap CSS
  • There is no code, it is a static HTML like the old site
    • It is not a server-driven application
  • Donna's site is responsive, images and text do resize when the window size or zoom changes
  • Need to change the graphic into sections instead of one large graphic
  • In Donna's site, the content is mostly placeholder information
    • Look at the site as a proof of concept
  • Need to work on the colors of the image (this needs to be done by a graphic designer)
  • Does the site look right on a mobile device?
    • Need to test on an actual phone and tablet, not just a laptop browser
    • Image needs to be reworked as text
    • text formatting needs to be set to wrap on small screens
  • Jim: Site should not look like a sales pitch!
  • Jim: Need more quotes for bottom of the page
    • Need to be insightful to what TSSG does differently
    • Assign this to Jim
  •  Terry: Header needs to be reworked for the style and color
  • Each of the teams need to provide their own page content
    •  Ralph: This needs to be done consistently for all teams, same look and feel
    • Suggestion: web team can create their page and have other teams follow it as a template for their page content
    • Other teams will provide their content to web team, then the web team will create the team page
    • Web team responsibile for making sure all team pages have the same look and feel
  • Ralph: Need to add link to the Meet-Up for TSSG to the front page
  • Terry: Put the general meeting information to the top of the page
    • This is what most people will be looking for when coming to the site
    • Keep the "about TSSG" as first thing, then have the "how to get involved / general meeting info" next
  • Terry: Move logo up to the banner

  • No labels
