Background
Atlassian will allow you to try the JIRA product free for thirty days. They can extend the trial license to get you out of bind. In my case I had data that I didn’t want to lose. They extended my license while I figured out how to update the license. The only problem is that it really doesn’t extend an existing license. They just issue you another license for the new date. You would still have to update your existing license so as to not lose your data.
The purchase of the one-year license is not covered in this document. The update of JIRA to reflect the new license is covered in this document.
My Atlassian
In order to access the new license, you must use Atlassian’s site called My Atlassian: https://my.atlassian.com/ This page/site shows you all of the purchased products including your trials.
Select Licenses from the Nav bar, Expand the new product you purchased: JIRA Software …
Note: If the License Key is not visible to be copied then you must use the “View License” action to obtain it.
This will pop up another window requesting the SEN ?
*** Place sample screen here ***, I don’t have a copy of the screen that was shown. Need to confirm the screen and process using this screen before document is final.
Select and Copy the value of the License key
Replace License Key
Log into JIRA and access the Administration screen
Select Applications from the Nav bar and then Versions & license
Note: The above screen print was taken after the license was updated. Prior to the update the date associated with “Maintenance expires” showed the problem.
Select the pencil icon corresponding to the License Key
Paste the value you copied from the My Atlassian page/site and then select Update license.
You are done.
